My Top 10 Favorite TV Shows – Past & Present

Here is My Top 10 list of my favorite TV Shows. Of course, The Vampire Diaries tops the list. Never before have I experienced being part of a fandom until I started my website Vampire Diaries Online. And I don’t think I will ever be able to duplicate that experience. Amazing moments with cast & fellow fans will be cherished forever. Check out the other shows I find myself fangirling over.

1. The Vampire Diaries

This show introduced me to a fandom experience that will remain one of the most cherished and special times in my life. From its fast paced and edge of the seat story telling to its music (which in my opinion was the heart of the show), to Damon’s one liners, The Vampire Diaries easily tops my list of Favorite TV Shows. As a fan, I became completely invested in every character, and with the rise of social media became equally invested in the cast! This is the only show that I find myself rewatching the entire series. I can’t count how many times. And thanks to companies like Eyecon Conventions and Creation Entertainment, I had the opportunity to meet them up close and personal, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

2. The Originals

The Originals is easily my 2nd Favorite TV Show due to the fact it being a spin-off and sister show to The Vampire Diaries. The writers took an origin story and made this show into a darker and more provocative show that catered to an older crowd. The show brought many elements from its sister show, but also introduced its own mythologies and for 4 and soon to be 5 seasons, continue to enthrall and intrigue. The show also prompted me to start another blog dedicated to a TV series, The Originals Online. I’m excited for the final season which will premiere sometime early next year.

3. Game of Thrones

A week prior to the season premiere of the Seventh Season, I was urged by my husband and friends to jump on the Game of Thrones bandwagon, so I forced myself to binge watch 6 entire seasons of the show in less than 2 weeks. And boy was I glad I did! This show is by far one of the best shows on television, so now I see what all of the fuss is about. It’s a perfect blend of fantasy, action and drama with a little side of romance. Not to mention, the amazing setting the show is filmed and the stellar special effects! Unfortunately, the show will be ending with it’s 8th season that may not premiere until 2019. Not sure I can handle it!

4. Riverdale

Did I mention that I’m also a huge fan of  Teenage Drama? Well, when The CW announced that it would be bringing a “re-imagining” of the Archie Comics to its network, I was ALL IN! And the first season of this show did not disappoint! I have fallen madly in love with Archie and the gang! This show is a cool and dark twist on the classic comics series, and I can not wait for its 2nd season to premiere on October 11th. Oh and guess what? You can find me and my friend Steph talking all things Riverdale over at Riverdale Fans Online.

5. Pretty Little Liars

Like The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars came during a time when social media was just getting started. The show became one of the most social shows to date and TVD wasn’t far behind. Although PLL didn’t have the supernatural aspect, the mystery and suspense kept me glued every season. I fell in love with the characters and was sad to see the show end.

6. Once Upon A Time

When Once Upon A Time premiered in October of 2011, I was so excited! I have always been a fan of fairytales and Disney movies, and this show was a perfect blend of the two. The first few seasons were amazing. Then the show seemed to struggle for a bit. But I hung in there. Now for it’s 7th season, the show will start fresh with Henry grown up and his daughter he fathered unknowingly showing up at his door. I’m excited to see what the writers have planned. The 7th season premieres on ABC, Friday, October 6th at 8/7c.

7. Stranger Things

Last year, my husband and I sat down and binged 8 episode of Stranger Things in about 2 days. We rarely enjoy the same shows, so it was nice that we both found something we both enjoyed! We are both children of the 80s, so the show brought back so much nostalgia for us. So it’s no secret that this show easily became one of our favorites, and I am so excited for the next season to be released on October 27th!

8. The Shannara Chronicles

The Shannara Chronicles is based on a book series (actually starts with the 2nd book) by Terry Brooks written in the 70s and 80s. I admit I’ve never read them, and the TV series premiered on MTV early last year. My favorite thing about this series? The setting takes place in a world called The Four Lands many, many years in the future, and familiar landmarks of the United States of America are in ruins. One of my favorite scenes is when two of the main characters, Amberle and Eretria are underground and stumble upon an old high school gym decorated for a dance. The second season is finally upon us, but now the show will air on Spike instead of MTV, and that’s fine with me. The season premiere is scheduled for October 11 at 10/9c.

9. The Flash/Supergirl

I’ve always had a place in my heart for Superheros. So when The Flash was announced to be coming to The CW, I was intrigued. I had watched the first few seasons of Arrow but then lost interest, but The Flash had me hooked from the beginning. Filled with tons of action and shocking cliffhangers. Excited for the 4 season, which premieres October 10th at 8/7c.

When Supergirl premiered on CBS, I started watching, then by the 2nd episode, I had lost interest. When The CW picked the show up for a 2nd season, I decided to give it another chance. I’m so glad I did! By the 5th episode, I was completely invested in all of the characters and found myself binging the entire season one to prep for the 2nd season. And now I am ready for the 3rd season, which premieres October 9th at 8/7c. And looking forward to crossovers with The Flash!

10. Timeless

I’ve always been a sucker for time-traveling TV shows and movies, so I was so excited to add NBC’s Timeless to my TV schedule. The show did not disappoint! I loved each episode and the eras that were visited. The show’s season one cliffhanger left us wanting more. And what is really cool about this show, is NBC first cancelled it, but then the fans campaigned to have it renewed and they listened! Days later, they announced they had changed their minds and promised to bring the show back for a shorter season in the Summer  of 2018.

So those are my 10 Top Favorite shows at the moment, I would love any other suggestions. Send me your thoughts in the comments!
